What to Expect

 

Every week we will cover a book chapter or an article.  Each meeting will begin with a student presentation summarizing the week’s reading (20-30 minutes) followed by a discussion (50-60 minutes).

 

The weekly schedule will be interrupted from time to time (depending on availability) with student presentations of original work.  Papers will be circulated at least one week prior to the meeting so that participants can come prepared to provide critical feedback.

Call for Papers

 

The Renmin University Philosophy Department invites graduate students and young faculty to submit papers in the following areas of analytic philosophy: metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, philosophy of language, philosophy of mind, philosophy of religion, and philosophy of science.  Submissions will be considered for presentation at the 1st annual Beijing Analytic Philosophy Conference.

 

The deadline for submitting papers is: 15 January 2014.  Papers should be suitable for 20-25 minute presentations (3,000-4,000 words) and made ready for blind review.  Submissions should also include a cover letter with the following information: (i) author name, (ii) email, (iii) institution, (iv) paper area, (v) word count, and (vi) an abstract (150 words).

 

There will be ¥3,000 prize for the best graduate student paper and a ¥1,000 prize for the runner-up.
