Ghent“3+2”
Jul 10 , 2024This Joint Program Agreement is an addendum to the Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Ghent (UGent)and the Renmin University of China (RUC). The purpose of this agreement is to establish a collaborative master's degree program between the two universities and to define the terms and conditions for the implementation of the program. The program is based on a “3+2” educational pattern, with the first three years of study at Renmin University of China and the next two years at Ghent University.
Ⅰ Proiect Overview
(i)Introduction of projects
Renmin University of China selects outstanding junior students to complete their fourth year of undergraduate study at Ghent University, which is also the first year of the master's degree at Ghent University (2 years in total). At the end of the first year at Ghent University, if the students fulfill the requirements of Renmin University of China, they can obtain the bachelor's degree awarded by Renmin University of China. At the end of the second year of study at Ghent University, if the students fulfill there requirements of Ghent student, they will be awarded a Master's degree by Ghent University.
(Ⅱ)Selection of specialties
The program is limited to undergraduate students enrolled at Renmin University of China in the following majors: Philosophy, Ethics and Religion.
The program is limited to the following Master's programs at Ghent University: Oriental Languages and Chinese Culture - China.
(iii)Number of selections
No more than five RUC students will be selected each year.
(Ⅳ)Application Requirements
Renmin University of China allows selected undergraduate students to apply and register for the Master's program at Ghent University after completing six of the eight semesters of the Bachelor's program(the application process takes place in the fifth and sixth semesters). Upon successful completion of the Master's program in the first academic year in UGhent and meeting all the requirements of RUC, the students will be awarded the Bachelor's degree by RUC and will be allowed to enroll in the Master's program at Ghent University in the second academic year in order to obtain the Master's degree.
(v)Nomination and Admission of Applicants
All candidates participating in this program are required to:
1、Completion of three academic years of the above listed Bachelor's degree program at Renmin University of China at the time of enrollment at Ghent University.
2、Meet the admission requirements for the MA in Oriental Languages and Cultures (China) at Ghent University, except for the requirement of a bachelor's degree from Renmin University of China. A Bachelor's degree is required for admission to the Master's program at Ghent University, therefore students will first be admitted to the Master's program at Ghent University in provisional status. Conversion to regular status will be possible after obtaining a bachelor's degree from Renmin University of China and submitting a notarized copy. The Bachelor's degree should be submitted to the Ghent University Registrar as soon as possible and at the latest before the start of the second year at Ghent University.
3、Satisfy the minimum English language requirements for Ghent University Graduate Program at the following level: English B2 at one of the following levels:
(1)For TOEFL, the paper test has a score range of 510 to 559 or above, and the online test has a score range of 72 to 94 or above. To send test results directly to Ghent University, please fill in the school code 2643;
(2) Original transcript (TRF) with an IELTS score of at least 6.0;
(3) B2 Certificate, by the Language Centre of Ghent University (UCT), Linguapolis of the University of Antwerp, Certificate issued by the Instituut voor Levende Talen (ILT) or the Academic Language Centre (ACTo-VUB);
(4) B2 certificate issued by the university Language Center or Adult Education Center;
(5) Final test certificate of Practical English 5 or English for Academic Writing issued by Ghent University Language Center;
(6) B2 Certificate (Cambridge English, FCE));
(7) Pearson English Academic Test (PTE Academic), score between 59 and 75 points.
The above certificates need to be valid at the time of first registration, the existence of a valid language certificate, shall not exceed its specified validity period, and the language certificate without a valid period shall not exceed four academic years from the academic year after the certificate is obtained.
Ⅱ Application procedures and materials
(1) Submission time: The applicant shall submit the application materials before November 31.
(2) Application materials, each student's application materials contain at least the following certificates (in English): a certified and up-to-date transcript; A certificate of study from Renmin University of China indicating the degree certificate to be obtained (the exact name of the degree certificate) and the approximate time when the student received the degree certificate.
