The Compilation and Research Center of the International Confucian Canon

The Compilation and Research Center of the International Confucian Canon was established in February 2022. It is a scientific research institution affiliated with the School of Philosophy of Renmin University of China. Its predecessor is the International Confucian Studies Center, which was set up under the Confucius Research Institute of Renmin University of China established in 2002. At the founding conference of the Confucius Research Institute, Professor Zhang Liwen, the first dean, put forward the idea of compiling the Confucian Canon, which caused a strong response both at home and abroad. Since then, the Confucius Research Institute has concentrated its efforts on compiling the International Confucian Canon. With the support of relevant academic institutions in South Korea, the "International Confucian Canon · Korean Compilation · The Section of the Four Books" was published in 2010, consisting of 16 volumes and totaling 14 million Chinese characters. Since 2020, both the university and the school have attached great importance to the compilation and research work of the International Confucian Canon. They have provided support for the establishment of major university-level projects and also supported the establishment of the current Compilation and Research Center of the International Confucian Canon, with Professor Zhang Liwen serving as the director of the center.
