Institute of Buddhism and Religious Studies

The Institute of Buddhism and Religious Studies at Renmin University of China was formally approved as a 'Key Research Base in Humanities and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education' in September 2000. It is an independent academic research institution jointly led by the Ministry of Education and Renmin University of China. The institute focuses on research areas such as Buddhism, theories of religious studies, Christianity, Taoism, Islam, and contemporary religions. It undertakes multiple national research projects and has established productive academic exchange and collaboration with numerous well-known universities, research institutions, government organizations, and religious groups, both domestically and internationally. Further, it has successfully organized a series of international and domestic academic conferences, including the 'China-Japan Buddhist Studies Conference.'
