Xie Dikun, a native of Nanjing, Jiangsu province, studied at Nanjing University, Heidelberg University in Germany, and the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He is now an outstanding scholar and distinguished Professor of Humanities at Renmin University of China. He is a member of the National Committee for the Examination of Scientific and Technological Terms, the director of the Committee for the Examination of Philosophical Terms, the expert in the examination of academic journals of the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, the Chinese chief editor of the Eastern and Western Philosophy Yearbook (Chinese and English), and the deputy editor of the third edition of the Philosophy volume of the China Encyclopedia . He was director of the Institute of Philosophy of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, editor-in-chief of Philosophical Research, Philosophical Trends and Yearbook of Chinese Philosophy, and director of the Department of Philosophy and doctoral supervisor of the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. His main research direction is continental European philosophy, and his representative achievements include Fichte's Philosophy of Religion, The Road to Spiritual Science (won the third prize of scientific research achievements of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences), Pursuing to Truth, goodness and Beauty, and History of Western Philosophy (Volume 6, main author, Volume 7 editor-in-chief and main author, won the China Book Publishing Award). The thesis "Current Situation, Problems and Way Out of Chinese Philosophy" won the first prize of scientific research achievements of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. In addition, he has translated "The Destruction of Reason", "The Foundation of Natural Law", "On the Genealogy of Morality", "The Problems of Moral Philosophy" and so on.

At present, the courses offered mainly include "Special Topics of German philosophy", "Selected readings of German Classical Philosophy", "Translation of German philosophy", "Selected readings of Western philosophy" and so on.
