Professor Wei has obtained a PhD degree in Philosophy from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, a Master’s degree in Philosophy from Fudan University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Jilin University. Before he joined the School of Philosophy of Renmin University of China in March 2021, he was an assistant professor in the Deparpartment of Philisosophy of Nankai University. He was also a visiting scholar at Chengchi University of Taiwan in 2011.
Professor Wei’s main area of research is metaethics. In particular, he is interested in arguing for and against a quietist form of moral realism, according to which objective moral facts/properties are not to be understood in metaphysical terms and the objectivity of morality should be established by first-order normative reasoning. Apart from that, he also works on the ethical thought of Bernard Williams. His work has appeard in top philosophy journals of China.
