The first Marxist philosophy textbook commissioned by the Ministry of Education, Principles of Dialectical Materialism (edited by Xiao Qian, Li Xiulin, and Wang Yongxiang), was published.
Additionally, the first systematic study of Zhu Xi’s philosophy in New China, A Study of Zhu Xi’s Thought by Zhang Liwen, was published.

1987The "National Discussion Conference on Practical Materialism" was held, and the Department of Philosophy gradually became a leading center for the study of practical materialism in the country.
1988Chinese Traditional Morality (edited by Luo Guojie) was published, with inscriptions by Jiang Zemin and Li Peng, and a preface written by Li Lanqing.
1995The Complete Works of Aristotle (edited by Miao Litian) won the Fourth National Book Award and the First Prize for Outstanding Achievements in National Social Science Fund Projects, with Hu Jintao presenting the award.
